hi guys, my question is where do linux (and ubuntu) users hang out in Kathmandu? Is there a momo, beer etc.. session that users, programmers, sysadmins and others hang out every week or so to just chill and have good time?
# java (thamel) is gr8 place to hang out. has wifi n anything coffee related is gr8. this place has a geeky feel -- almost everybody is doin something on laptop there.. but food is kinda expensive.
# nanglo bakery cafe' outlets r nice. they have wifi too. food is reasonably priced. but if u have a gang n everybody's carrying a laptop, u might get weird looks from ppl around.
# if u dont mind working quietly, pilgrims book store at thamel is also nice. has wifi too. but the thing is, it's a book store. no shouting. n obviously no alcohol too..
# IOE, pulchowk is also one possibility. u can hang around the 'chour' infront of CIT, or around FSU Cafe or Zero Energy House. wifi is available but needs authentication n only pulchowk students have pwd. around FSU cafe, u can have nice tea n smoking is allowed too.
# for FOSS-NP hardcores, foss research n training center at BVS, naxal might also be one of the hangouts. no wifi, but u can plug into lan. however internet conn is not so reliable. :( plus it's a school so no smoking or drinking..
Haven't got chance to visit Java, nanglo..but last time I had a chance to join the "sata sat GB" @ bakery cafe. It was nice. so for me, @Informatics collage, wired/wireless internet connectivity is there. and lots of New user's query on FOSS and discuss on FOSS-INFORMATICS with collage management. and of course @WLink. High speed Internet wire/wireless, there are few new ubuntu user. I enjoyed alot with them to discuss on ubuntu and others FOSS related. and I really enjoy to discuss with System admin, how they hack/customize the Linux/Bsd and others Unix like OS.
