Who we are
We are community people interested in helping local Ubuntu community in Nepal as means of low-cost way of approach to bridging the digital divide. We use Ubuntu Linux as our primary operating system for this purpose and believe that it is one of the best free/libre operating system out there. To login manually, follow http://ubuntu.org.np/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/Welcome?action=login instead.
What we can help out
Please remember that everyone helping out people over real-life, IRC or the mailing list are volunteers and are not paid by anyone. They do this for the love of opensource and do not necessarily have any income as such. Our server runs on a shared hosting service (heads up to PrasannaGautam for actually paying USD $200 out of his pocket!) provided by Bluehost and the DNS was propogated with the help of Mercantile communications. Thanks Mercantile!
We organise installfest, codefest, ubuntu release party and lot of other events surrounding Ubuntu or opensource in general. We can help users with their problem and also provide support and lastly but most importantly we serve as a first point of contact for Ubuntu users in Nepal. We are in the process of trying to get ourselves upgraded by getting officially LoCoGettingApproved

Community get-together
On 7/02/09, FOSS Info Mela was organised with the help of FOSS Volunteers. The photos from the event are available. Thanks Surmandal!
On 2/05/08, Ubuntu Hardy Heron release party was celebrated in Nepal. Hackers, enthusiasts and new Ubuntu users alike shared their skills and knowledge across sessions of presentation, informal gathering and misfortunate CD sales.
The photos of the event are available from Surmandal's and Shankar's collection. Enjoy!
Let us all take a chance to say thank you! to everybody involved in it. It was a great success :). More details in our HardyReleaseGetTogetherPhotos section.
